-What is Be Kheer?

Be kheer is an Algerian association for youth that aims to create a positive environment through different activities such as charity, workshops, challenges…etc. The main purpose of this initiative is to create a program for young people (children and teenagers) that helps them change their routine and step out from their comfort zone by enriching them with new information through different workshops and activities carried by volunteers. However, there are other activities for participants of different ages.

-How and when did you start this organization?

Initially Be kheer started through social media in May 2019 by a group of volunteers, we then started organizing activities as an Algerian association for youth. We organized our first activity in collaboration with Kafil El Yatim Association which, as its name implies in Arabic, aims to work and help orphans. Since the launch of the initiative and activity was on Ramadan, we made an Iftar for the children. Moreover, we had fun activities with them such as drawing and games. We also organized a day where we invited our followers on social media to pay a visit to the elders at the Al Amal rest home in Blida. We also participated in an environmental event « cleaning day » with children in Sidi Fredj in collaboration with SeaQuesters Organization. Last but not least, we launched our program which is the main purpose of our initiative: workshops program.

We delivered two activities to young people (from 10 to 17 years old) in collaboration with The Campus Algiers. The first one “First Aids “ consisted of giving children a basic understanding of first aid. Two qualified rescuers delivered it at The Campus Algiers. We delivered the second activity about theater and its rules for young people before the end of summer vacations.

-Did you get any support to further implement your organization? (Collaborations, financial support, sponsors…etc.)

We got support from a private school in Val d’Hydra “ The Campus – Algiers “
where we started delivering our workshops. We collaborated with the association of Kafil El
Yatim in Blida.

-What are the major challenges you faced while implementing your organization? How did you overcome them?

Given that our initiative is new we faced some difficulties when it comes to marketing. We wanted to reach the maximum of people so they can benefit from the activities. As a solution, we decided to post about our initiative and our activities on several Facebook groups and this strategy succeeded.

-What are your future plans?

We plan to continue implementing the program of workshops. We are doing our best to reach out to children and teenagers so that we can help them to improve themselves while they are still young. Our main goal is to make an impact in this society to change young people’s habits through charity and other activities.

-What constructive advice do you have for an audience of young people interested in starting a similar project or address the same issue?

If you want to start a project, the first thing you need to do is to plan well for it before launching it. Planning is the key to the success of the project. You will need to work hard to make it happen, but start step by step and do not rush things. Another crucial element is your team. You need to choose suitable people for your project. Choose those who will add value to your project and develop it with their competences.
If you have an idea for a project in mind with the potential to help society and make a positive impact, do not hesitate to start working on it. As young people, we need to make a change in ourselves by helping others and giving our best for our society. #LETSBETHECHANGE.
